Cultural visit to Japan for Aikido students

London-based Mrs. Akemi Solloway, a lecturer in Japanese culture, is organizing a cultural visit to Japan to coincide with the International Aikido Federation Congress in Tanabe (the birthplace of O-Sensei) in October.

The programme is planned with martial arts in mind.

Besides sightseeing and visits to places of important cultural interest (with an introduction to Japanese tea-ceremony, flower arrangement, calligraphy, taiko (drumming) and Japanese traditional musical instruments) there will be joint British-Japanese Aikido practice and a special martial arts demonstration (Enbu) at a famous 8th century Shinto shrine. There will also be the possibility of staying for a few days with Japanese people. For further information visit the website of Mrs. Solloway and contact the General Secretary of the B.A.F.
